The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “don’t wait, check the date,”

Fire services will head to local schools all week to help educate students on fire plans and to check at home to make sure the smoke detector is changed every 10 years.

Public Safety Officer, Luc Willard says they touch on a lot of other messages as well when speaking with students, like the need for a fire plan.

Fire fighters will head out into local school and make a stop at Lowe’s on Wednesday, as fire prevention week is recognized across the province.

Fire Prevention Week is recognized in Sudbury and across the province.
