Greater Sudbury Police say a bear that had to be removed by the Ministry of Natural Resources earlier today in the South End was not injured.

Officers say the Ministry’s Bear Technician believes the bear ate so many apples in the area, that it was sleeping the food off, and not injured as originally thought.

Students at MacLeod Public School were told to stay inside for their safety as the bear was removed.

It will be monitored over night and released sometime tomorrow.
