The Sudbury Wolves have announced they have hired Barry Smith as their new assistant coach.

The Michigan native has more than 25 years of coaching experience in North America and Europe.

Recently he was coaching in France but prior to that he spent six years under Marc Crawford and Alain Vigneault with the Vancouver Canucks.

He is expected to arrive in town this weekend.

He takes over for Drake Berehowsky who recently accepted a head coaching position for the Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL.
