A very serious situation was put to rest early by Greater Sudbury Police uniform officers early Sunday morning.

They were responding to a call that said a male was pointing a rifle at passing vehicles near the Ethelbert-Albert street intersection in the West End.

Shortly after they arrived, officers were able to arrest the 19-year old male without incident.

The gun turned out to be a BB pellet rifle which was a replica of a common assault rifle

No one was injured but the accused’s motive is still unclear.

He’ll be facing a number of weapons related charges in bail court.
