The new season of Masterchef Canada will have a local flare as Sudbury resident Grace Liang will be one of the top 24 contestants.

Liang is originally from Toronto but is Engineer in Training at Vale in Sudbury, and says she really got serious about cooking when she moved to Sudbury three years ago.

So she may be an engineer at Vale’s Coleman Mine during the day but at heart she is a chef.

She attends culinary school in Toronto on the weekend and says she has lots of time to practice her skills.

Liang says her co-workers have given her a lot of support as she tests dishes out on them and they have been great with feedback.

She even teased that the film crew may have shot at Coleman Mine.

Liang she has really been focusing on French cusine and where other cooks have experience she will make up in passion.

Liang will turn on the burners when Season 4 of Masterchef Canada premiers on March 2nd.
