A familiar reason for a fire caused about 200-thousand dollars in smoke and fire damage to a home in Val Caron yesterday.

Fire fighters say an unattended pot of oil started the blaze but no injuries were reported as the smoke alarm alerted the occupant to get out.

Four stations and 13 firefighters responded to the fire on Anton street just before noon.
