Since 2011 the Real Canadian Superstore on Lasalle has cut electricity usage by 22 per cent, and the province in recognizing their parent company Loblaw Companies Limited.

Sudbury MPP and Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault says Loblaw is an energy efficiency leader and in Sudbury have saved 800 megawatt hours annually through certain programs.

Thibeault says Save on Energy retrofit incentives are available for all types of businesses.

Mark Schembri with Loblaw says initiatives include switching to LED lighting and replacing open dairy cases with doors.

Loblaw is Ontario’s largest retailer and consumes one per cent of Ontario’s electricity demand.
