A blue-flag will fly at Moonlight Beach this summer after it received international eco-certification meaning the beach has met high standards of water quality.

Moonlight becomes the second beach in Sudbury to get a blue-flag as Bell Park Beach earned the certification for the third year in a row.

There are a record number of 27 beaches and eight marinas across Canada flying the blue-flag.

To keep the status a beach must meet international standards of water quality, environmental management and education and provide safety and services.
