Greater Sudbury Airport CEO, Todd Trip says the outdoor lighting at the airport has not been upgraded in years and they’ve had to use a patchwork system which has been very costly.

But a federal government investment of $261,000 will allow them to replace apron flood lighting and upgrade the current regulators which supply power and control all airfield signs and lighting.

The upgrades will provide better lighting for workers and passengers outside, especially in the Winter months and enhance safety.

Tripp says with the upgrades they could also see savings of up to 70% on their electricity bill.
