Premier Kathleen Wynne says a plan to raise the minimum wage to 15-dollars an hour by 2019 will make a world of difference for many Ontarians.

The increase from the current $11.40 will be phased in over the next 18th months — helping about 30 per cent of Ontario workers who currently make less than 15-dollars an hour.

It’s part of a major labour overhaul that will also provide part-time workers with equal pay for the same work as full-time staff and require employers to pay three hours wages if a worker’s shift is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice.

The minimum paid vacation entitlement is also being increased to three after five years with a company while workers will be entitled to 10 emergency days a year — two of them paid.
