The federal and provincial government are each providing close to 500 thousand dollars for NORCAT’s(NOR-CAT) Underground Testing Facility in Onaping Falls.

The money will help open three dormant drifts at the testing facility and grow surface operations by expanding electrical and communication systems, ventilation and lighting at the testing facility that is also an active mine.

NORCAT CEO, Don Duval talked about why funding the testing facility is so important.

Duval says as Canada celebrates it’s 150th birthday, NORCAT should be viewed as a national sense of pride.

Duval says 51 different mining companies from around the world visited the facility last year alone, almost one company per week.

15 different delegations from around the world also visited the site in Onaping Falls last year.
