During an interview with Ryan Seacrest’s Morning Radio Show ‘On Air with Ryan Seacrest’, Katy Perry reveals some very interesting deets about the upcoming American Idol reboot.

When asked about the list of rumoured judges (the list includes a returning Keith Urban, Charlie Puth, Luke Bryan and even Lionel Richie) Katy says if it was up to her, it would be Lionel who would take the next judge seat.

“I’m really pulling for Lionel, because I think Lionel is an icon.  And not only that, if you’ve ever seen or met Lionel, he just knows how to charm the whole room, and he’s such an artisan with words. His whole presences just brightens the whole room.”

And she’s all for it when it comes to Charlie Puth, “Between Lionel and me, it would be nice to have someone a little more fresh.”

Katy then offered her advice to the contestants, saying that it would be “advantageous” if someone were to audition with one of her songs.  Katy says, “Especially if they play something like ‘Fireworks,’ because I have to like, squeeze both of my butt-cheeks to hit all those notes.”

And when asked what kind of judge she’s going to be, “I’m going to maybe be more the Simon Cowell.  I really respect him. As much as people said, ‘oh, he’s grumpy or he’s mean,’ he was just truthful, you know?… I don’t need to be there to win the popular race, I just need to be there to find someone I can make their dreams come true.”

Auditions are OPEN! We're looking for #TheNextIdol. Head to AmericanIdol.com for all of the details.

In addition to talking about Idol reboot, Katy talks about the delay with her Witness tour, hosting the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards and how her collaboration with Calvin Harris on ‘Feels’ came together.
