Carving a traditional orange pumpkin into a generic Jack-O-Lantern is SO last year!

Here are 5 really creative ideas for you and the kids to try out this Halloween

1. TEAL PUMPKINS

With so many food allergies out there, trick-or-treating can be tough for parents who are trying to navigate which houses will offer candy that is safe for their children to eat.
Did you know that if you see a teal pumpkin it means that house is offering alternative allergy-friendly Halloween treats for kids with food allergies? Stickers, bracelets and toys are great examples of other goodies you can hand out to all the little ghost and goblins this year.

2. BLACK AND WHITE LACE PUMPKIN

Got an old pair of fishnet stalkings laying around? If so, this project will take seconds to complete! White pumpkins are all the rage this year (and of course they’re more expensive), but the contrast of the white pumpkin with the black lace looks stunning. If you want to, you can paint the pumpkin even more white or any other colour you desire, before putting the pantyhose over top.

3. GOLD BEDAZZLED PUMPKINS

Trade orange for gold with this classy, expensive looking pumpkin. The bedazzled beads can be purchased at a dollar-store. All of your friends will be jealous when they come to your next dinner party. Who knew pumpkins could be so classy?

4. WARTY PUMPKIN MAN

The possibilities are endless with this warty pumpkin! Glue some googly eyes on, a carrot nose and some green lettuce for hair, topped with a pointy hat and you’ve got one spooky witch! You can even rotate the pumpkin or gourds and use the stem as a pointy nose! (below)

5. DITCH PUMPKIN FOR PINEAPPLE

If pumpkins and gourds aren’t your cup of tea, switch things up with a pineapple!

Don’t limit yourself to just one fruit, either! You can have fun with cantaloupe, watermelon, etc.
