Trying to find something to watch on Netflix can take way too long. Luckily for you, I’ve found your next binge-worthy show.

It’s a reality series called “Shot In The Dark” and it centres upon freelance video journalists in L.A. who cover gruesome breaking news stories and sell the footage to news outlets. It’s a very competitive, cut-throat business where these guys are racing one another to the scene to try and get the best shot first.

“Three rival freelance stringers scour the streets at night to film crime scenes, fires, accidents — and anything else they can sell to news outlets.” -Netflix

It’s interesting to get a behind-the-scenes look because as a news viewer, you often wonder, what kind of person chooses this career? These professionals are making money off of other people’s misfortunes. Unfortunately, in the news world – the more chaos, casualties and crime means the more viewers and ultimately, more money.

I mean, these freelance journalists are listening to the police radio scanner for anything – explosions, drunk drivers, burning vehicles, fatal car collisions, etc.

That being said, they are also husbands and fathers who wouldn’t wish tragedy upon anyone, but when tragedy strikes, their job is to film it. Check out “Shot In The Dark” on Netflix and let me know what you think!
