The Sudbury Indie Cinema is getting a permanent home Downtown.

The province has provided almost 300 thousand dollars to transform an old empty elementary school gym on MacKenzie Street into a theatre that will support local, independent and international films.

The cinema will be located beside Sudbury Secondary School and Managing Director of Sudbury Indie Cinema Co-Op Beth Mairs says their dream of a permanent independent cinema is now a reality.

The money will help modernize the venue with lighting, an air and heating system, theatre seating and digital projection equipment.
