A collision that involved multiple vehicles on Highway 17 East last night is now a fatality investigation by Ontario Provincial Police.  The first tweet on the case was posted at 5:21 on the OPP’s Northeast Communication Twitter account but at the time it only said there was a collision on the eastbound lanes of 17 by Regional road 55 and Highway 144 with emergency vehicles attending.  Just over two hours later a tweet mentioned the road was closed, that police were on the scene and the reopening time was unknown. The final tweet from the Communications centre came at 12:21am and said the road was now re-opened without any further information on the fatality.

The only post from the Northeast OPP announced a fatality on it’s account around 8:30pm and added that the ramp from Highway 144 to Highway 17 was  closed as well and it was unknown at this time how long the highway would be closed.

We’ll provide more updates as they become available on our KiSS Sudbury Twitter account and KiSS newscasts throughout the day.
