Canadians are gearing up to make some noise this evening. So don’t be surprised if you hear your neighbours engaging in some odd behaviour!

Canadians are gearing up to sing the Tragically Hip classic Courage at 6pm tonight. Following the lead of Spain and Italy, Canadian’s will sing from their bedroom windows, porches and yards.

Comedian Joey Elias is behind the movement. “If we could just get together as a country with a band that united us already and forget about all that nonsense and dance like nobody’s watchingIt’s a quick distraction but hopefully a distraction the whole country can get behind,” Elias said.

If you need a copy of the lyrics handy for tonight, here you go!

Watch the band through a bunch of dancers
Quickly, follow the unknown with something more familiar
Quickly, something familiar
Courage, my word, it didn’t come, it doesn’t matter
Sleepwalk, so fast asleep in a motel
That has the lay of home and piss on all of your background
And piss on all your surroundings
Courage, my word, it didn’t come, it doesn’t matter
Courage, your word, it didn’t come, it doesn’t matter
Courage, my word, it didn’t come, it doesn’t matter
Courage, it couldn’t come at a worse time
There’s no simple explanation
For anything important any of us do
And yeah, the human tragedy
Consists in the necessity
Of living with the consequences
Under pressure, under pressure
Courage, my word, it didn’t come, it doesn’t matter,
Courage, your word, it didn’t come, it doesn’t matter
Courage, my word, it didn’t come, it doesn’t matter
Courage, it couldn’t come at a worse time
It couldn’t come at a worse time
It couldn’t come at a worse time
Courage
Then, at 7pm, it’s the 7pm CHEER! People are together each night at 7pm to show appreciation for healthcare providers. Get outside at 7pm to cheer, bang on pots and pans….basically, make some noise!
