I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, there’s a day celebrating any and everything, and chocolate is no exception!

In every way, shape and form, chocolate is loved by millions around the globe, but can it be healthy? Why yes, yes it can! Eating dark chocolate has a surprising amount of health benefits, and here are just a few:

Improved Blood Flow, Lower Blood Pressure

Through controlled studies it has been revealed that dark chocolate can stimulate the endothelium, the lining of arteries, which helps them relax, leading to mildly improved blood flow!

Reduced Risk of Heart Disease

A study of 470 elderly men showed that cocoa could reduce the risk of death from heart disease by 50% over a 15 year period! Another study also showed that eating dark chocolate more than 5 times a week lowered the risk of heart disease related death by 57%!

Could Improve Brain Function

As mentioned above, dark chocolate can improve blood flow. But, where exactly does the blood need to go? Your brain of course! A study showed eating the mildly sweet cocoa product improved blood flow to the brain by 20%, but I’m sure the caffeine that comes in chocolate helped a little, too!

These are only the beginning of the many health benefits that comes from eating dark chocolate, if you’d like to read more and find links to the independent studies mentioned in the article and can do so HERE.
