We discovered 2 things on “The Cory & Jamie Show” this morning.

  1. If you want to get people really riled up, just turn your mic on and say that Carnation Milk and Condensed milk are the exact same thing.
  2. Not everyone rips open a packet of fake powder to make hot chocolate.

A friend of Jamie’s said yesterday that she was making “homemade” hot chocolate. Jamie thought this was a little pretentious and didn’t understand how one would make “homemade” hot chocolate. Well, listeners were quick to step up to the plate by sharing their secret family recipes and well as some tips & tricks.

Brenda said you slowly boil a pot of milk, and some pure cocoa powder and a bit of sugar.

Mary suggested putting some Carnation milk in a cup, along with chocolate or cocoa and top it up with boiling water (sugar optional).

Another listener, Michael, texted us this recipe…….and let’s be real, you can’t go wrong by adding butter to anything, right?

Take your cocoa, add 3-4 tablespoons of butter (yup, that much). Add your desired amount of sugar. Put it all on the stove and cream it together. Then add half & half, until you have enough to fill a mug. (Michael suggested even adding a little maple sugar or maple syrup…..you know, just in case 4376 calories isn’t enough.)

And just in case you want to whip up a batch for the whole family, here is a delicious-sounding recipe for crockpot hot chocolate!
