Jack Antonoff’s new song ‘Hey Joe’ honours his father, not Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn. The singer is set to release a new self-titled record with Bleachers next year. Fans of his longstanding partner Taylor have already looked at the tracklist and surmised that one of the tracks is about her ex, Joe Alwyn, but Jack insists they will be disappointed because it’s not. He told the Guardian: “There’s a community of people that will be pretty disappointed when they find out it’s [‘Hey Joe’] a meditation on my father and his friends walking the Ho Chi Minh trail in their 60s.” After his younger sister Sarah died of brain disease at 13 in 2001 and his cousin died in the Iraq War, the 39-year-old singer said the record touches on his sadness.
