The average pet parent spends $633 on food for their fur babies per year, a MetLife survey of 2,000 Americans found. In total, Americans spend $4,800 on their pets annually, including healthcare and toys.

While that’s costly, 83% say there’s no limit on what they would spend for a happy and healthy pet. Some respondents even splurged on swimming pools, giant cat trees, and a birthday party including the neighbourhood pets.

In 2024, 64% are considering getting another pet to keep their fur baby company. 38% want to spend more quality time with their pet, and 21% aim to take them to the vet more often. (swnsdigital)
